Due to an internal shake up upon the arrival of a new Technical Director, our client is seeking an experienced Development Engineer who can come in and hit the ground running.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for leading the internal development of innovative, resilient products to maintain maximum customer satisfaction, whilst cleverly mapping out strategic requirements.

In return, the candidate can expect a generous starting salary of up to c£42,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Oversee product development lifecycle of specialist moulded products
• Ensure design and development processes adhere to company quality standards and pre-contractual customer agreements
• Delegate workload to Junior Development team, including side projects set on behalf of the technical department
• Assess product design processes via DFMEA/FMEA at the design concept stage to mitigate any potential risks
• Assist the R&D department with various lab tests on product concept designs, including strength tests to ensure full adherence to pre-agreed performance standards
• Liaise closely with the Quality Manager to understand manufacturing requirements around batch coding
• Maintain up to date records via company Syspro database system
• Utilise various continuous improvement techniques and LEAN tools during daily activities, including 8D, 5Y and Six Sigma

Skills & Experience 

• Degree in relevant engineering discipline
• Formal qualification in materials technology or similar advantageous
• Demonstrable experience working with injection mould and extruded products
• In depth knowledge and understanding of DFMEA/FMEA/PFMEA analysis
• Capable of incorporating LEAN tools and techniques into daily tasks
• Ability to read and interpret design CAD drawings and diagrams
• In depth understanding of NPI processes
• Excellent attention to detail with a natural flair for problem solving
