Fettling Assembly Team Leader

Overview

Express Recruitment are working alongside one of Nottingham’s leading manufacturing businesses who are seeking an experienced Fettling Assembly Team Leader to join their production team during an exciting period of growth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a small assembly team while remaining hands-on within the workshop, ensuring products are assembled and finished to the highest quality standards. Duties will include team supervision, fettling and finishing fabricated components, quality inspections, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the department.

The successful candidate will receive a salary of up to £33,000 per annum (£16 per hour), depending on experience. In addition, the company offers overtime opportunities at enhanced rates, ongoing training and development, and the chance to progress within a well-established and growing organisation.

Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience within a fabrication, fettling, assembly, or manufacturing
  • Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring a production team within an engineering or manufacturing setting
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, with a strong understanding of hand tools, grinding, deburring, and finishing techniques
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a small fettling and assembly manufacturing team to meet daily production targets while maintaining strong quality and safety standards
  • Perform and oversee finishing and assembly processes, ensuring all work aligns with technical drawings and required specifications
  • Coordinate workflow, assign tasks efficiently, and work closely with related departments to support smooth operations and timely delivery
  • Carry out in-process quality checks, address production issues, and contribute to ongoing process improvements
  • Maintain accurate production documentation, uphold high housekeeping and safety standards, and assist with training and development of team members
