Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

Overview

Are you looking to start a career in Quantity Surveying, developing your commercial and financial skills whilst working on major construction and infrastructure projects? Express Recruitment are delighted to be supporting an established business in their search for an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor based in Grantham.

This role is suited to someone who has recently completed, or is completing, A-levels, a BTEC or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject such as Mathematics or Law and is interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry. Working alongside an experienced commercial team, you will develop practical skills in contract administration, cost management, financial forecasting and subcontract management whilst studying towards a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying.

Alongside a competitive salary of up to £25,000 per annum, you'll benefit from a permanent position and the opportunity to gain a recognised degree-level qualification whilst developing your career within an established business.

Skills & Experience
  • A-levels in relevant subjects such as Mathematics or Law, or another suitable equivalent qualification, alongside a willingness and eligibility to study towards a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a methodical approach to problem-solving and good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to interact with a wide range of people
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing deadlines and work independently
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with a full, valid UK driving licence
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the administration and management of subcontract agreements, including the preparation and issuing of contractual notices
  • Support the preparation and valuation of interim applications, final accounts and subcontractor payments, whilst identifying and assessing variations
  • Assist with contract negotiations and the resolution of contractual disputes, helping to identify and minimise commercial risks
  • Support cash flow forecasting, credit risk assessments and monthly work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, including identifying potential financial risks
  • Assist with commercial reporting, cash collection and wider business objectives to help maximise profitability and maintain high standards of work
