Assistant Accountant

Overview

Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant looking for your next opportunity within a fast-paced, award-winning business where you can really develop your skills and take ownership of your work? Express Recruitment are thrilled to partner with a reputable and expanding organisation based in Nottingham, who are seeking a meticulous Assistant Accountant to join their busy accounts team based in Nottingham.

 

This role is ideal for a proactive finance professional with well-rounded, hands-on accounting knowledge. Reporting directly to senior management, you will play an integral role across double-entry transactions, ledger maintenance, bank control, and ongoing systems optimisation projects.

Skills & Experience
  • Experience in a similar accounts role
  • Comprehensive grasp of core accounting principles, double-entry processing, and balance sheet controls
  • AAT qualification, or qualified by experience
  • Strong capability in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with modern ERP tools (exposure to Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central is a distinct advantage)
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Maintain balance sheet routines relating to stock management, staff expenses, and corporate card accounts
  • Oversee ledger health, coordinating with purchase colleagues to perform supplier reconciliations and complete intercompany entries
  • Process cashbook ledger transactions and perform complex multi-entity bank reconciliations
  • Support month-end close by preparing balance sheet reconciliations and core management summaries
