Assistant Building Surveyor

Express Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation in the appointment of an Assistant Building Surveyor to support the delivery and ongoing management of a diverse property estate.

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring building surveying professional looking to develop their career within a supportive environment, gaining practical experience across a broad range of building surveying disciplines. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced and senior surveyors, supporting inspections, condition surveys, project delivery, statutory compliance, design, tendering and contract management.

The role offers structured development and training, with the opportunity to work towards professional membership through the RICS Building Surveying pathway and progress towards RICS APC.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring building surveying professional looking to develop their career within a varied and supportive environment. Skills & Experience
  • Experience in a building surveyor role, having conducted site work and drafted technical documentation
  • Relevant qualification or degree in Building Surveying, Building Studies, Property or a closely related discipline
  • Some practical experience within a building surveying, property, construction or estates environment would be advantageous
  • Understanding of building construction, defects, maintenance and property condition assessment
  • Awareness of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, including health and safety, fire safety, asbestos and accessibility
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Carry out and assist with building, condition and measured surveys, inspections and building pathology assessments, producing accurate reports, schedules of condition and maintenance recommendations.
  • Support design and technical documentation, including CAD drawings, specifications, tender documentation, feasibility studies and applications to planning and building control authorities.
  • Assist senior surveyors with project management and contract administration, including site monitoring, progress reporting, valuations, snagging, handovers and project coordination.
  • Support statutory compliance and asset management, including fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene, accessibility and building control, ensuring property records and compliance information remain accurate and up to date.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, building users and other stakeholders, attending site meetings and supporting the successful delivery of maintenance, refurbishment and improvement projects.
