Field Electrical Project Engineer – London

Overview

Express Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and growing fire and security solutions provider, who, due to continued expansion, are seeking a Project Engineer (Installation & Commissioning) to join their field-based team, based in London.

Our client has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire safety, suppression, and security solutions across a nationwide customer base. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer or an experienced systems specialist looking to step up into a senior, supervisory role within a forward-thinking organisation that places strong emphasis on safety, technical excellence, and customer service.

The role will be field based, covering London and surrounding areas, offering a competitive salary (c£55,000) based on experience alongside a comprehensive benefits package including a company van, fuel card, uniform, ongoing training, increasing annual leave with service and career development opportunities.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience working on electrical fire life safety systems within an installation or commissioning environment (or significant systems experience looking to step up)
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of major industry systems (e.g., Notifier, GENT, Advanced, Apollo, Hochiki, Disabled Refuge/Alarms)
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations, codes of practice, and safe working practices on construction sites
  • Knowledge of multiple communication protocols across differing manufacturers and system interconnectivity
  • Excellent fault-finding, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership, site supervision, and communication skills with a focus on delivering high standards
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage project deadlines effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Additional knowledge of CCTV and Intruder systems is beneficial but not essential
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Carry out the installation, configuration, and commissioning of Fire, Life Safety, and Security systems
  • Supervise and oversee sites and projects, directing on-site colleagues and sub-contractors
  • Ensure all works and equipment are operated in compliance with Health and Safety standards and construction safety regulations
  • Inspect sites regularly to identify, manage, and eliminate potential safety hazards
  • Test and troubleshoot systems to ensure optimal functionality and resolve systemic issues with long-term solutions
  • Interpret building plans and engineering drawings to ensure precise installation and setup
  • Identify operational efficiencies and recommend changes to project procedures where required
  • Provide comprehensive system operational training to end-users upon project completion
