Lightning Protection Engineer

Overview

Express Recruitment are proud to be working in continued partnership with a leading specialist contracting provider who, due to growth, are seeking an experienced Lightning Protection Engineer to cover expanding contracts across England.

The successful candidate will be competent in carrying out inspections, testing, and repair works on lightning protection, earthing, and surge protection systems to BS 6651, BSEN 62305, and BS 7430 standards.

There is an excellent remuneration package on offer, including a basic salary between £40,000–£50,000 per annum, overtime opportunities, 30 days annual leave (rising to 32 days after 5 years), and full provision of company equipment and transport.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience carrying out Lightning Protection Inspection & Repair works to BS 6651, BSEN 62305, and BS 7430
  • CSCS carded to NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Lightning Protection preferred
  • Good physical fitness to carry equipment, climb stairs to roof levels, and work at ground level earth pits
  • Strong communication skills with IT literacy and clear handwriting for recording site documentation
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Additional certifications such as IPAF, PASMA, First Aid, Asbestos Awareness, CAT & Genny, or IRATA are highly advantageous
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, fault diagnosis, and repair works on existing lightning protection and earthing systems
  • Execute ground-level excavations as well as work at height using harness, lanyard, and anchor systems
  • Deliver Toolbox aaTalks and convey Risk Assessments/Method Statements (RAMS) and scope of work to team members on site
  • Record accurate site readings, test findings, and photographic evidence before and after completion of works
  • Maintain a polite, professional standard of customer service when liaising with co-workers, sub-contractors, designers, and site clients
  • Travel to client sites across London and Essex, with flexibility to lodge away from home when required by contract demands
