Senior Structural Engineer

Overview

Express Recruitment are proud to be representing a leading civil and structural engineering consultancy in the East Midlands who is looking to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer to join their established team. The role is based at their modern, open-plan office in Nottingham city centre and offers the chance to work alongside a skilled team of engineers and technicians on complex, regionally important schemes.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering major infrastructure and structural projects in both 2D and 3D. Duties will include undertaking technical drawing work, producing reinforcement bending schedules, and managing workloads across multiple schemes to hit client deadlines. You’ll also take a lead role on larger projects, delegating tasks, mentoring junior team members, and liaising directly with clients and external design teams.

Skills & Experience
  • Strong technical drawing background within a UK-based structural engineering consultancy
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for structural detailing across timber, masonry, steel and reinforced concrete
  • In-depth knowledge of civil/structural build details, construction interfaces and rebar scheduling
  • Proven experience managing project deliverables and delegating tasks to junior team members
  • Familiarity with BIM software such as Navisworks and ReCAP is advantageous (though not essential)
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive, collaborative approach
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead technical drawing work in 2D and 3D using AutoCAD and Revit for major structural and infrastructure projects
  • Produce accurate reinforcement bending schedules for reinforced concrete structures
  • Plan, delegate and manage workloads across multiple projects to ensure client deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to junior technicians within the department
  • Liaise directly on a daily basis with clients, architects and external design team members
  • Contribute actively to the continuous improvement of company and drawing office procedures
  • Balance time between office-based detailed design and site visits to support buildability
