Tekla Draughtsperson – Steel

Overview

Are you an experienced Structural Steel Draughtsperson looking for your next career move within an innovative, fast-growing specialist construction sector? Express Recruitment are delighted to support a leading, nationally recognised engineering and manufacturing organisation based in the East Midlands, who are seeking an accomplished Tekla Draughtsperson to join their expanding team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with extensive structural steel background to work on cutting-edge commercial, industrial, and hybrid superstructures. You will collaborate closely with in-house design engineers, project managers, and fabrication workshops on a diverse portfolio of complex structural schemes.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience using Tekla, within the steel sector
  • Thorough knowledge of steelwork connections (such as "Green Book" standards), fabrication methods, and site erection processes
  • Familiarity with CNC fabrication output data and BIM coordination workflows
  • Experience detailing timber glulam, CLT, or secondary structural systems is highly advantageous, though full training can be provided
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Produce precise 3D fabrication models, general arrangement (GA) drawings, assembly packages, and erection layouts using Tekla Structures
  • Detail heavy structural steelwork, portal-framed buildings, and multi-story structures to high industry standards
  • Interpret complex structural/architectural drawings, design reports, and specifications
  • Apply standard connection designs and generate material lists, CAM/NC files, and drawing issue documentation
  • Raise and manage technical queries (RFIs), maintaining up-to-date drawing registers and project trackers
