Temporary Chartered Surveyor – Local Authority Organisation

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Chartered Surveyor / General Practice Surveyor to support a Local Authority with the management of its property and land portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor with a background in commercial property, estates, valuations or general practice surveying.

The role will involve managing a varied range of property matters, including leases, rent reviews, valuations, disposals and council-owned assets. You will provide professional property advice and support the Council in managing its estate effectively.

Skills & Experience
  • Chartered Surveyor or experienced General Practice / Estates Surveyor
  • Strong knowledge of commercial property and estate management
  • Experience with leases, rent reviews, valuations and property disposals
  • Experience dealing with property or land issues and providing professional advice
  • Ideally experienced within a local authority, public sector or commercial property environment
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and work independently
  • RICS qualification / MRICS is desirable
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Deal with lease reviews and renewals
  • Carry out rent reviews and provide advice on rental values
  • Undertake asset valuations and prepare properties for tender
  • Deal with land encroachment and property-related issues
  • Support disposals of council-owned land and property through sale and auction
  • Manage industrial unit refurbishment projects
  • Monitor and manage properties on the Council's risk register
  • Support wider council property and estates initiatives, including LGR progression work
