Temporary Platform Engineer – Local Authority

Overview

Express Recruitment are excited to be supporting a reputable Local Authority, who are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to join their IT department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled IT professional to support and maintain critical infrastructure, ensuring the reliable, secure and efficient delivery of IT services across the organisation.

Skills & Experience
  • At least five years' relevant experience within an IT systems support or technical infrastructure environment
  • Strong knowledge of server administration, operating systems and infrastructure technologies
  • Excellent Active Directory skills, including a good understanding of Group Policy
  • Experience with Azure, VMware, Linux and Windows-based systems
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles, service management and change control processes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and maintain high service standards
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Support and administer server and operating systems, including Wintel, Linux, VMware and Microsoft Azure
  • Maintain core IT systems, including Active Directory, SCCM, encrypted email, certificates and file shares
  • Monitor system performance, investigate incidents and resolve technical issues to maximise service availability
  • Implement and maintain IT processes, procedures and security standards
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, service changes and continuous service improvement
  • Work collaboratively with internal IT teams, external suppliers and public sector partners
  • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, mentoring junior team members where required
