Specialist desks recruiting across Scotland

Express Recruitment has supplied staff to Scottish employers for more than three decades. Each desk recruits for one sector and nothing else, covers the whole country, and travels in for client meetings, site visits and assessment days.

For employers in Scotland that means salary benchmarking built from live local data, candidates who have been interviewed properly before they reach your shortlist, and a consultant who understands the difference between hiring in Aberdeen and hiring in Motherwell. You will not receive the same CV from three different desks, and you will not be passed to a resourcer who has never seen your site.

We recruit across the Central Belt, the North East, the Highlands and Islands, the Borders and everywhere between. Whether you need one permanent appointment in Edinburgh, a temporary finance team in Livingston or a shift pattern covered at short notice in Dundee, the same sector team handles it from brief to start date.

“We lost two of our finance team in the same month. Express had a temporary assistant accountant with us the following Monday and a permanent replacement offered inside three weeks. Four years on they handle every hire we make in Scotland.”

Scotland recruitment questions

What employers and candidates in Scotland ask us most often.

Which parts of Scotland do you cover?

All of it. We recruit across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Stirling, Perth, Falkirk, Livingston, Paisley, Ayrshire and the Scottish Borders, as well as business park and out of town locations that agencies often skip. If a role is remote or hybrid we search the wider region to widen your candidate pool.

Do you have an office in Scotland?

Our office and payroll team are in Nottingham, and we recruit for Scottish employers from there. Your vacancy is handled by the consultant who specialises in that sector, and we travel to Scotland for client meetings, site visits and assessment days. Enquiries are answered the same working day.

How quickly can you fill a role in Scotland?
Temporary and short notice roles are usually covered within 24 to 48 hours from our work ready pool. Permanent shortlists typically arrive within three to five working days. Specialist, technical or senior appointments take two to three weeks depending on the market.

Do candidates in Scotland pay any fees?

Never. It is free for candidates to register, be interviewed and be placed, permanent or temporary. Employers pay a percentage of starting salary for permanent hires, or an agreed hourly charge rate for temporary staff, confirmed in writing before we begin.

What vetting and compliance checks do you carry out in Scotland?

Every candidate is interviewed by the consultant on your vacancy. We verify identity and right to work, take up references, and arrange PVG scheme membership, Disclosure Scotland checks, qualifications, licences or tickets where the role requires them. A full audit trail is available on request.

Can you supply staff across multiple Scottish sites?

Yes. Multi site bookings are coordinated by one sector desk so you get a single point of reporting, one consolidated invoice and consistent charge rates, whether the sites are in the Central Belt, the North East or the Highlands.

Do you handle payroll for temporary workers in Scotland?

Yes. We manage pay, holiday accrual, pension auto enrolment, working time records and Agency Workers Regulations parity for every temporary worker we supply, and invoice you weekly against approved timesheets.

How do I get in touch with the Scotland team?

Call 0115 947 2271 or email jobs@express-recruitment.co.uk and you will be put straight through to the consultant covering your sector in Scotland. You can also submit an enquiry form and we will respond within one working day.
