Following merger with a global software consortium and a stacked-out order book, our client is seeking the addition of a Field Service Calibration and Instrumentation Engineer to join their growing team. 

Due to the nature of the role, regular field work is a key requirement, including overnight stays when required. As a result, a full UK Driving License is essential.  

In return, you can expect to receive a generous starting salary of up to £40,000, plus full entitlement to an annual KPI bonus scheme, £350 monthly car allowance, paid overtime, 6% employer pension contributions, along with 31 days holiday (including bank holidays) with the ability to ecru extra days with length of service.  

Following completion of probationary period, you will be eligible for out of hours coverage, which rewards you with a £150 additional pay per day (one week every 4-6 weeks). 

Roles & Responsibilities

• Schedule visits to various customer sites throughout the UK, working mainly in factory environments  
• Perform extensive servicing, maintenance, and repair across automated machinery, weighing systems, instruments, calibration systems and diagnostic equipment 
• Ensure all servicing works carried out align with company quality and safety standards  
• Perform rigorous testing and troubleshooting of equipment, identifying root cause of issues and completing all necessary technical reports and documentation 
• Carry out wiring, crimping, soldering and bench testing across machinery and equipment 
• Assemble and set up tech equipment such as PCs, Barcode Scanners and Printers  
• Adhere to SSoW and HASAWA requirements and safety acts  
• Respond to out of hours emergency call outs as per rota schedule  

Qualifications & Experience

• Formal qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering related discipline  
• Proven experience servicing and repairing calibration equipment and precision instrumentation equipment 
• Experience servicing and testing automated weighing systems advantageous  
• Great eye for detail with the ability to diagnose technical issues efficiently  
• Demonstrable level of IT capabilities, including the ability to set up and operate software and hardware devices  
• Flexible with weekly overnight stays, sometimes up to three days per week 
• Full, clean UK driving license essential
