Express Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a large local organisation during a busy recruitment period, who are currently seeking a Temporary Inspection and Enforcement Officer to join their highways team.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out highway inspections within defined timeframes, ensuring compliance with the Code of Practice. You’ll enforce relevant legislation and help maintain the integrity of the highway network.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct regular highway condition inspections and record findings accurately
• Enforce the Highway Act and Environmental Protection Act where applicable
• Respond to customer and stakeholder enquiries, keeping detailed records
• Use asset management systems to log defects and monitor risks
• Support legal and insurance processes, including court representation

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in highway inspection, enforcement, or a similar role
• Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and highway standards
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with the public and stakeholders
• Competent in IT systems and data entry
• Strong understanding of health and safety
