Express Recruitment are currently working with a leading education institution who are based in the Midlands. Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineering specialist to support apprenticeship students develop an understanding of Health and Safety for a range of equipment, inclusive of new CNC machines and lathes. The successful candidate will be working alongside the Nuclear Engineering Technical specialist, supporting a newly established, state of the art Engineering Academy.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Maintain all equipment and workshop spaces, always adhering to all Health and Safety regulations
• Ensure Health and Safety Risk Assessments are completed efficiently for new students starting their courses
• Offer guidance to apprenticeship students, focused on Engineering equipment (operating of CNC machines for milling/turning)
• Assist with assessments of student development on a periodic basis, discuss any concerns with Team Manager
• Develop training plans and activities to deliver to students, considering individual learning style

Skills & Background

• Formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar subject
• Demonstratable practical experience on workshop machinery, including welding
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics and mechatronic systems
• Excellent communication skills at all levels
• Ability to work with young adults from all backgrounds
• Risk and COSHH assessment training essential
