Express Recruitment are currently working with one of Nottingham’s leading safety equipment suppliers, who due to on-going growth, are now seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to join their team and support with the development of new systems that will further drive business success. 

In return, the successful candidate can expect to receive a salary of up to £60,000 D.O.E, plus other employee benefits including an annual bonus, hybrid/flexible working, private healthcare/medical insurance, a pension scheme, and life insurance. 

This is an exciting opportunity to not only take ownership of the role and further develop it, but also to gain vast exposure to new tech and tools. 

Roles & Responsibilities

• Support with the design and development of new systems, from initial concept through to testing and release/implementation 
• Maintain efficient, reusable, and scalable code which can later be further developed if required 
• Work with the wider technical team including Product Analysts, Hardware Designers, and System Architects throughout the full development cycle 
• Create and maintain technical documentation recording progress, issues encountered, and product feasibility 
• Follow and maintain industrial safety legislation and standards (including IEC 61508 and SIL2) 

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience working within a similar Embedded Engineer position 
• Proficient knowledge of and experience using C/C++ and Python 
• Solid knowledge of security standards including IEC 61508 and SIL2 advantageous 
• Some experience in software QA testing, including unit testing, beneficial 
• Qualifications or a degree in Computer Science or equivalent desirable 
• Good understanding of networking infrastructure
