Due to an ever-growing global client base, our client is seeking to expand their specialist team, with the addition of an eager and initiative-taking Engineer who is passionate about wanting to transition into a fully-fledged Control Systems & Automation Engineer.

The ideal candidate will ideally possess a general skillset working with PLCs and HMIs, whilst communicating directly with customers on simultaneous projects and providing full turnkey solutions.

The working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm, although some flexibility is on offer, depending on individual circumstances. Due to nature of the role, occasional UK and overseas travel to various client sites is required, along with some weekend work.  

Roles & Responsibilities

• Learn how to program PLC and SCADA for robotic systems from scratch  
• Assist with PLC testing prior to test approval 
• Compile accurate fault reports and ensure they are documented correctly 
• Assist with plant layout designs and interpreting schematic diagrams 
• Learn how to fully design control panels, structural machine designs and automated material handling equipment 
• Liaise closely with Mechanical Design Engineers to review and approve final designs  
• Attend consultations with customers to fully understand their bespoke specifications 
• Assist with a broad range of electrical design projects from initial concept to completion 
• Read and understand engineering drawings, general arrangement drawings and schematic diagrams 
• Travel with a team of Engineers to customer sites, including in the UK and Europe  

Skills & Experience

• Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering  
• Foundation knowledge of PLC/SCADA programmes, including fault finding and design  
• Exposure to some of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Codesys, Omron, Mitsubishi, and Siemens S7  
• Basic experience working with robotic systems, including ABB and Fanuc highly desirable 
• General knowledge and understanding of control panels, material handling equipment, automated and plant machinery 
• Full UK Driving Licence essential 
• In date UK passport strongly preferable
