Proud to be supporting the J9 Initiative

We are proud to be the first recruitment agency in the UK to be J9 trained, following a variety of other businesses within the Midlands including the Trent Barton bus services, local councils and also Parliament.

The J9 Domestic Abuse Initiative aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse and assist survivors to access support safely by training professionals and members of the community. J9 was an initiative created in memory of Janine Mundy, a mother of two who was killed by her estranged husband whilst he was on Police bail. Once J9 trained, the J9 logo is displayed, letting survivors know that they have a safe place to access information and use a telephone to contact support services.

Many of those affected by Domestic Abuse see it as shameful or are embarrassed to admit this so the courage it will take for those affected is huge. Domestic Abuse can affect anyone.

We have painted this in a discreet place on the board of businesses as you walk through the archway in Eldon Chambers to ensure that this remains subtle yet noticeable for anyone in need.

Our team have been informed of how to discreetly handle these situations, and when sharing the phrase ‘J9’ upon arrival, Survivors can make use of a telephone, to signpost them to services and a safe space.

Thanks to the work we have done with Tara’s Angels, we were able to grow our knowledge of this vital initiative against Domestic Abuse and we urge other companies across the East Midlands to do the same. If you want to find out how you can become a J9 Safe Space, contact the team at Tara’s Angels here.
